On the tooth, the diabetes could be why your gums receded. I am not much of a dnetal nerd - I used to try to avoid them which is why my problem got as bad as it did. If I had gone more often and paid more attention I would probably not have had the bone loss that made this so much more complicated. So - Way to go nipping this in the bud.
