A happy NSV - Half-Marathon - 18 months post-op
Hi! While I'm still bouncing around a couple pounds off my first goal weight, I wanted to share a very happy NSV with you. Pre-WLS, I would have never, ever dreamed this was possible in my future!
I ran my first half-marathon on Sunday! :) I started running at the beginning of June, just on the treadmill at the Y. I wasn't especially well-trained or prepared for this, haha, but I decided to do it last week (joining a friend and taking advantage of a discount registration). The race was Sunday morning. My official time was 2:49, which is not breaking any land-speed records, but was a respectable finish. Especially considering we were with a third person, *****ally had us strolling (moseying? ambling?) along the first more than a mile. At that point, I thought, I need to get out there and see what I can do with this, so I took off on my own.
I am very pleased and proud of myself! It's amazing when you think how much things have changed in such a relatively short time!
