Kinda Embarassing Question

I'm 6 weeks post-op, and still itching.  I had the most itching on the sides of my tummy, across my groin and under my breast.  The doc confirmed that I was allergic to the draping/tape used during surgery.  However, I am STILL itching from my arms, to my tummy, to my feet....ALL over.  I use hydrocortizone cream thru the day, and take a Benadryl every night before going to bed.  It's to the point that I've got to call my dermatologist to see if there is anything else I can/should be doing.  My skin is taking a beating with all the scratching I'm doing. 

I am almost 6 mo post op and also have what I have come to call my "itch" attacks.  And, If I don't immediately stop everything and take benadryl, I will stratch myself raw.   I plan to speak to my doc at my next appt in @ 2 wks.  Only thing I can come up with is that my body chemistry, hormones and metabolism is so in flux that the itching is a crappy side affect.

I am really not so inclined to know why, but rather how to fix it.

If anyone has a better fix than benadryl, please share!
