I missing gulping drinks!

Things are going great for me. Doc had moved me from clear liquids to full liquids for a week then I can start puréed foods. At 6 weeks I'll be to To regular foods. I just miss gulping water when I'm thirsty. Sipping wears me out and doesnt quench my thirst. Is this forever? When will I feel like drinking isn't a chore?

I am 4 months post-op and gulp my water just like prior to surgery. At 6 weeks post-op, I noticed my drinking was back to normal.

Best,

Sharon

I'm 4 weeks tomorrow and I don't have to sip anymore but then again, I'm not gulping. I've never been one to gulp though. I just drink resonably.

I am 4 weeks out and can take fairly big drinks. Wouldn't say I have tried "gulping" but if I haven't had anything to eat in a while I can drink quite a bit at a time. I am the same way...I'm often thirsty and the sipping did not satisfy my thirst at all.

After a couple of months, I could drink normally... now I can chug a bottle of water just as fast and easy as before. It's a process, let your body heal and take it easy. xoxo

Be careful, You can give yourself foamies or make yourself extremely uncomfortable drinking too fast!  I have done it!

As your stomach heals you will feel more and more like normal.  I used to be a fast drinker, and still am, I just pay more attention to how my stomach feels.  Right now the nerves are still healing so you can't really feel your stomach the way you normally will.  Its best to just coddle it for now.

I am 12 days out. I forgot and chugged some water, not alot, but still it was a chug.
May I just say, if you forget and do it, you won't do it again.  OW, OW, Ow !!!

As I am only two weeks out from surgery, I'm still sipping and getting used to my sleeve, but I just wanted to say that I totally relate to your post. Chugging water is an issue I was concerned about prior to surgery. I am (was) a big drinker, not alcohol, bu****er. I've always loved water and I drink plenty every day. I hate to be thirsty more than I hate being hungry! So I was really worried about feeling crazy thirsty after surgery. Luckily, I now always keep a beverage around to sip, so things have been okay. Anyway, I'm looking forward to when my sleeve is healed so I can take some bigger more satisfying gulps. Until then, I'm the sip queen!

Glad to hear things are good for you. I can gulp my water at 7 months out, but when you can gulp again just be careful not to get to much air.
