Yeah the first night after surgery, in the hospital, I woke up around midnight just freezing! Teeth chattering, shivering, the whole bit... Since then I get cold all the time. Stack on blankets at night....drive the wife nuts cause she's hot

I didn't start feeling cold until closer to maintenance.  I positively freeze now, even when everyone else is comfortable or warm.  I was giving a presentation a few weeks ago with my teeth chattering.  In a crowded conference room with afternoon sun.  It was bizarre.

I don't know how long it lasts or if its just my new metabolism or what, but its definitely weird.

I was pretty cold the first week post-op, probably because I was getting so few calories. At one point I was walking around the hospital room witha fleece blanket draped over my head and whole body. I looked like E.T. Haha. Now that I'm trying to get more protein and such, I'm more just comfortable rather than hot or cold. I have noticed that I'm no longer having episodes of profuse sweating like I used to. I think that was attributed to my insulin spikes after eating lots of processed carbs, which I no longer get. I'm loving that!

I think as you lose weight and fat, you have less insulation, so you will feel colder. I felt it the most during the rapid weight loss phase, but also a couple of months later due to iron deficiency. Since I have lost weight, I can tolerate the heat better and become colder much easier than when I was obese.

It will happen. Give it some time.

Mine didn't start until I got off the morphine which was about 24 hours after surgery.  Then I only noticed it in the halls at the hospital then I started getting cold in my room and turning up the thermostat.  Now I can tolerate cool temperatures as long as it's not moving air, then I'm freezing.  For the first time in years my husband is complaining it's hot in the bedroom at night now.  Pre-surgery we slept with a fan in the window on all night long.  Now  have to wear my flannels to get through the night!

I guess it's different for everyone.

Immediately... I have to wear socks to bed now just so I can get warm enough to sleep... Sexy, I know, but necessary
