So a while back I was struggling with  and desperate to get it under control enough to make it back into my classroom.  Somebody suggested Immodium and Ac piped in she would be afraid of the constipation and to ride it out.  I was desparate.  The Immodium worked nearly immediately and keeps on working now several days out.  Now I am taking colace to counteract the damn immodium.  My poor digestive system must just be plain pissed at me!  Ac, next time I am totally going to heed your advice!

I'm sorry but im rolling out of my chair right now as we speak. I literally pray to the bathroom gods for diahreah - i cant imagine that i will ever take immodium or anything like that.

I know my surgeon removed my stomach but im pretty sure he screwed with the rest of my digestive system too.

Having too make too many trips to the bathroom pre op - always have been that way - I kind of look forward to not spending so much time in there post op.  But I have never had constipation and I don't want it. Isn't there some daily thing you can do to avoid it - I keep seeing how some on the boards take miralax, colace daily or every other day to make sure things keep moving.  Does that not work for you guys?  Kind of scary.

I take daily stool softeners and a rx laxative - still doesnt work for me. Miraliax, MOM, duculoax - all that stuff didnt work. Tried fiber supplements - almost killed me. Water - im over hydrated. Early out -coffee used to keep me going. Now it has no effect on me. The ONLY thing that saves me is running but that's a pain in the ass (no pun intended...really haha).

Even stimulant laxatives are hit or miss - sometimes they work, sometimes they dont.

Ac, I have a product that I eat that always works for me.  You are in a much more severe situation there- but maybe it could help.  Everytime I eat a serving of this the next day I am good to go, pun intended!  I am having me some today- I had forgotten about it until now.  Amazon has a terrile price- go to netrition.com if you are interested in it.  I eat these as a cereal and use them like granola on yogurt- love them that way.  They are deceiving little suckers- they can absorb a cup of milk.  I eat a 1/4 with milk at  a time and just don't forget they will expand in the stomach- I wouldn't do a whole serving on your first run aroudn with them.

Pooping is like winning the lottery since surgery. No one can figure out why. I even saw a specialist who just shook his head. I'm well hydrated, active, eat my fiber....dunno. My pooper broke after surgery.

Gosh, you guys are scaring me - between never ending reflux and constipation - surgery isn't sounding so good.

ohiogirl- this is immodium induced constipation.  I did have problems with constipation in the first 2 months, but I adjusted my eating and it was no longer a problem.  This recent bount of funky was due to illness initially.  Also, I had horrible reflux prior to surgery and none at all post op.  My surgeon found a hernia and repaired it- it has been heaven!

Ac, at least I could make you laugh!  Off to take a half of box of ducolax now... colace didn't touch it!
