Rice and Beans has been a staple in my life since I was 6 months old. I'm Brazilian. White Rice and Pinto Beans has been a meal at least twice a week some weeks and every night thing. I just want to make sure I am correct - I will have to say good bye post sleeve, right?

I can eat beans but no rice. The beans have to be mashed too.

Just until you start maintenance.  I am now eating lots of brown rice and beans.  Supposedly the combination of brown rice and beans make a complete protein.  I just posted a few minutes before you did listing 10 ways for a vegan (which I am not) to get protein.  Check it out!

Truthfully I eat rice and I eat beans, but not very often and in very small portions. This is after I being cleared to eat a regular diet.

Occasionally I'll eat a 1/4 cup of beans and maybe about the same in rice.

Beans are a good protein source but like rice they are high in carbs. Some ward off against all carbs during the losing phase, others like myself just limit them.

Talk to your NUT about it.

I wonder if cauliflower and beans would work... Hmmm... I've seen recipes that substitute cauliflower for rice in fried rice dishes.

you wont be saying goodbye to it forever. but as long as you want to lose weight you should stay away from the rice.

As others have said, rice is a bit of a problem. Lots of carbs.

What does your surgeons plan say?  The rice is most probably out - its a starch.  The beans, depending on what type might be OK.  IF they are high in protein - you may be able to use them.

Consider them gone for now, but possibly not forever.  Whether you can eat them later is dependent on several issues beyond your control, but one way you may be able to add very small portions (if your stomach can handle them) is by adding some unflavored protein powder to give them a boost.

As long as you can tolerate it, you can eat it.  I eat beans all the time.  Usually skip the rice because of the calories and do "riced" cauliflower instead.
