I am near my 1 month post-op and I was getting scared.

I had GERD going in and knew that I would probably have some gas afterwards. But I have gas even now. The Prilosec is not working for me. I was having to lay down to eat and drink. I was running to the bathroom every time I didn't lay down to eat and drink because I felt like throwing up.

I had a hard time even trying to get any of my vitamins in. BUT.... This last weekend I rested pretty much all weekend. I tried some watermelon and some baked beans. On Monday I went to work feeling really good! My energy was up. I had no spasms of nausea.

Today, not as good as yesterday, but still MUCH BETTER than the last 3 weeks. So much so that I managed to get my B vitamin and my multi-vitamin (which was a lot harder than I had hoped) in.

I am down 40lbs from surgery (not including the 18 prior). I still have the gas, but YES...IT DOES GET BETTER!

Gas is very common post-op.  I liked to think of myself like a baby post-op - everything was new and crazy!  It does get better with time.  Eat slowly and take small bites/drinks.

Congrats on the 40lbs - that is awesome!
