Remember - there are no silly questions- so here goes . . .
Okay - started on pureed foods today - had fage yogurt with some skim milk and SF FF pudding powder - pretty good - but couldn't eat it all so fell short on my plan's goal of 20 gms protein per meal. Pureed wendy's chili for lunch - got 3/4 c down but again fell short on protein. So I am going to supplement with protein drink.
But here's my question - since now I am only to have 0 calorie drinks (besides supplemental protein) - does that mean no more SF popsicles and no milk in coffee/tea (not a coffee/tea drinker yet but would like to start but only if I can have some milk and splenda)?? Do you ever just have a glass of milk?
For pureed stage and looks like rest of plan - my rules are:
1) no drinking for 15 min before and 1 hr after meal.
2) only 0 calorie liquids between meals except supplemental protein drinks
3) 3 meals - no snacks
4) meal should be below 300 cal but have 20 grams of protein (no mention of carbs but I know to stay low)
So vets - any suggestions??
Paula

I suggest you follow your prescribed plan.
That said, I made some variations to my NUT's plan, but I had acceptible reasons for all of them.
*I don't get in any fruits because they are a sugar trigger for me (at least, every one I've tried has been a trigger).
*I eat snacks between (actually my NUT is okay with snacks) because I have small capacity
*I drink a little coffee (1 cup of 1/2 regular 1/2 decaf) in the morning because I use it with a protein shake.
*I don't get in as many veggies as my NUT would like but she know that I can't eat very much at each meal.
The problem with making changes to an eating plan for many newly Sleeved is that they make variations that send them back to bad eating habits. That's why, imo, it's important for you to work your doctor's plan first before saying "this doesn't work for me."
As far as milk is concerned, imo, my tummy is so small, I don't want to waste calories abd carbs on a liquid that will go right through me.
Good luck.

I am by no means a vet but I think the 3 meals, no snacks AND 20gm protein per meal rule will be TOUGH for the first couple of months. I am almost 3mos out and would still have trouble doing that. I eat about 5 times a day. I can only eat 2-3oz at a time, but do get hungry every 3-4 hours. I use the Premier RTD shakes from Costco, boom 30g of protein. I had to drink 2 of them a day for the first 6-8 weeks, now down to one. I have not drank a glass of milk, mostly due to carbs. I do put half and half in my coffee. I highly suggest MyFitnessPal. It helps SO MUCH with tracking your foods, calories, protein, etc. Just concentrate on protein and fluids for now. The rest will get easier.

Sure you can have SF pops and NonFat milk just remember your coffee and tea should be Dcaf so you will absorb your calcium properly. All of us have different food plans and I think it's important to find what works best for you.. By your description you are eating 900 cals thats a lot if u r just now starting purée foods remember its more important to get your protein first... And you should be eating smaller meals 4 to 5 oz.... so its ok to have 4 or even 5 meals/stacks per day. Talk to your nut about more options.. Good luck
