If I can't get to 60gms protein & 64oz of fluids by tomorrow night, I'm back in the hospital.

PLEASE help, I'm doing what feels like EVERYthing I can without it all coming back up. I'm taking Zofran for nausea becaue it get's bad sometimes. Today was my best day yet, but I only got 34gms protein & 43oz fluids. I do NOT want to go back to the hospital, I just don't know what to do!!!

Are you using the Premier shakes from Costco/Sams? They have 30G of protein in 11oz, so really help get it in. How far post-op? It took me a couple/few weeks to get the fluids/protein in. Best of luck, hang in there.

I use BioX Whey Isolate Protein powder and have mixed one scoop in as little as 4 oz of water just to get my protein in.  One scoop had 30 grms of protein in it.

For fluids, take a 1 oz medicine cup and drink 1 every 5 minutes - that is 12 oz in 1 hour.  In just over 5 hours all your fluids will be done.

Remember your protein shakes count as liquids.  Also condider isopure - it is more like gatorade or something.  It has 2 grams of protein in every ounce, so if you drink 2 - 20 ounce bottles, you will have gotten 40 ounce of fluids and 80 grams of protein and just need 14 ounces of water or tea or even popsicles.

Definitely 2nd the IsoPure...mix it with water if you think that it's too strong on it's on!

The shot glass/medicine cup helped me so much in the first 2 weeks.  Even if you spread it out over 10 mins it will take a little longer, but you can still do it in about 10 hours...

Crossing my fingers for you!  Good luck!!!

Try chicken broth with unflavored protein added, preheat  one part of the broth really hot and a small amount only warn to disolve the protein without making lumps, then mix all together.

Make cherri jello and add unflavored protein on it.  The cherry tastes very strong and will hide the protein taste.  Other jello flavors you can add vanilla or even chocolate.

I have been on fluids since October the 7th and that's why I manage to get the fluids and protein.

I found the warm liquids pass easily, the others made a lot of glup glup glup while descending.  It was not fast at the beginning but sip sip sip even if it is a small amount.

Other people add somethin sower to the water and are able to drink more, that's not my case.

Take courage and continue to try.

Alll the best

Rosie

I forgot to tell you to go slow with chocolate, it could upset the stomach at the beginnig.   It happened to me I was not able to drink more than 4 oz of Cosco chocolate protein drink.

Drink slow even if it is very small and you will progress.

Here's a suggestion: IsoPure Zero Carb, its 20oz of clear fluids with 40gms of protein. Two birds one stone. Stay away from orange it tastes terrible. I understand Orange Banana Pineapple is good but I haven't tried it. I can tolerate the Grape Frost and the Blue Razz. The Apple Melon is nasty and I haven't tried the Fruit Punch.

Anyway easy to drink, clear liquid so you should be able to drink it, and lots of protein. You can get them at Vitamin Shoppe (they have singles in the cooler case so you can try a few different flavors without buying a whole case like I did with the Orange).

Also are you mixing your protein drinks with Milk? That might not be good for you, try water or Almond Milk, soy milk (although soy might not be good for you either). I really like my protein drinks with the Almond Milk.

In the first few days I had a lot of trouble keeping anything down....turned out it was the Zofran. I had my doc change the zofran and it was so much better. The Zofran was just too strong for me.
