Im on day 3 post op and made a small protein drink. Very thin with water and am sipping on it. Do you think it to early? My paper work doesnt exactly have a day to start just explains what clear liq are.

My doctor had me on clears for 3 days and then on full liquids whi*****luded protein shakes made with skim milk or soy or almond milk. Did they give you any guidelines like that?

Every doctor has a different protocol so you should really ask your doctor.  My program did not require a clear liquid stage and I was approved for protein shakes right after surgery.  That is mostly what I drank for the first two weeks before introducing mushies.

Yeah i have a packet from the seminar that says i can do protein not thick but thin after surgery then i have what the hospital gave me that says full clear till 8 days and protein can be introduced if not already. I just dont want to screw my new tummy up lol but im handling the protein better then i did the G2 Gatorade.

They brought them to me less than 24 hours after surgery.

Check with your surgeon, give his office a call they will be happy to answer your questions.

I had a little protein loaded pudding and some yogurt on the third day but didn't get to a formal protein drin****il the fourth, The sooner that you can get some protein in, the better as that aids in healing and ultimately helps to maintain muscle mass as you get the protein levels up to the recommended amount. If you can tolerate it, it's not too early for the protein drink. sip, sip, sip.

1st support group/seminar - 8/03 (has it been that long?)
