When does this stop??  It hurts so bad!  And it prevents me from getting all of my fluids in. I'm taking the smallest sips I can possible take.  Is there anything else I can do to stop this sticking? Surgery was this past Tuesday - and I don't move on to soup, yogurt, et****il next week. HELP!

Try drinking warm water.  Im 3 months out and still not a fan of cold water.  It's like I feel it go clunk into my tummy.  Warm water slides down smoothly :)

Thanks!  I will definitely try that.  It's driving me crazy!  I really don't want to become dehydrated.

Have you tried 1- different temperatures? New sleeves are diva's - they must have things just like they want it.  Some warm, others room temp and still others icy cold (my diva sleeve demanded icy and still prefers it that way).

2- adding something to the water?  The Ph of water can sometimes be tough on our tummy (no idea why, again they are divas at the start).  Try some decaf tea, add crystal light (or something similar), or a little squeeze of lemon.  Even SF popsicles make a great option.

Hope that helps!

I didn't have this problem at all and I feel for you,but I honest to goodness don't understand how water gets stuck, unless you have developed a stricture. have you called your surgeon about it? if not,I would call the on call dr for a check in.

I honestly think it's just residual gas that's keeping me swelled up and making the stomach tight.  I took some Gas-X and put a ho****er bottle on my stomach overnight and that seemed to help a lot.  I just got out of the hospital yesterday, so I'm not sure that a stricture would be it (wouldn't the doctors have caught that before I left).  I also tried warming the water a bit, but that didn't work out so well.

they might not have caught one forming unlewss they did an EGD  immediately before you left.  glad the ho****er bottlle helped. strictures can form quickly and even a partial stricture can cause issues.

I had this during week 3, turned out to be spasms.  Everytime I sipped, I could feel it.  An antispasmodic cleared it up in 2 days.  Haven't had an issue since.
