Question about lower weight person vs heavier weight person

Started - 269, on day of surgery 260.  Now I'm bouncing between 245-250.  Granted it's only been 3 weeks.  Do we has the smaller weight vsg'ers have a harder time of losing weight than a heavier weight.  I read that someone who had surgery on Dec 6th, had already lost 40 lbs, while someone else had surgery the same day had only lost 25.  Obviously their body make ups will be different, but the heavier weight person had lost the 40, and the smaller person had lost 25.

Anyway, just wondering if people who are around the 250 - 260 mark have a harder time than the heavier weights?

Not harder, but generally a little slower because they have less of a calorie deficit.
You're down between 10 and 15# in 3 weeks - when was the last time you lost that much in so little time? You're doing great.

I guess I would be considered a 'heavy weight' (SW was 359) but generally the more weight you have to lose the faster it comes off. People with heigh weights usually drop big amounts especially in the beginning. So a light weight may look at those numbers and be envious but the con is its harder and takes more work for us to get to goal where as a light weight may get there in 6 months it'll take someone heavier much loner obviously. So there is give and take either way. Either way we'll all get to the finish line. I know we all want it NOW lol but slow and steady wins the race

You have to look at % of excess weight lost. The actual pounds don't mean anything. My 100 pounds is probably equal to your 30 pounds.

My BMI on surgery day 5 weeks ago was 35. I have lost 30 to date....that's total with 3 days pre-op and 5 pounds before that. My doctor said it will go slower for me than someone with a higher BMI.

I feel your pain!  I lost 10 lbs pre op, so my surgery weight was 250 on Nov. 14.  So, I'm a little more than seven weeks out and I'm down to 224 and change -- so basically 25 pounds in 7 seven weeks.  I'm in my mid-50s and my recent BodPod analysis shows that I was maintaining my 250 weight at a little more than 1400 calories a day.  So overall,  every fat cell in my body is screaming, "No, no!  I've been with you so long!  I'm staying as long as I possibly can!"

We'll just be the turtles, not the hares -- but we'll get there!

Starting weight: 260; Surgery Weight: 250; Month 1: -15.6; Month 2: -11.8; Month 3: -11.4;  Month 4: -7.4  Month 5: -8.6; Month 6: -3; Month 7 -3.8; Month 8 -7; Month 9: stall; Month 10: -4.4; Month 11: - 2.6; Month 12:-3.4

Had my first checkup tonight.  He said I am on track and doing good.  I guess the one thing that I should be thankful for is that I'm less than when I started the process... All of your posts help.. so thank you.  Makes a lot of sense too.  Thank you all.
