Outfitting "the girls"
I went to get measured and the girl was WONDERFUL. Don't be afraid to ask for someone that has more experience. I will say this, though, the bras they have you try on can be pretty stretched out. So find one that fits, pick one off the rack, then try THAT one on. A friend of mine spent $200 on bras from there based on the ones she tried on. She had to return them all because they were too small when she got home.
I would recommend going to a bra specialty shop to get fitted, those women know their stuff. Place like Soma or Intimacy are good. I think that VS is ok but I do think that those employees are taught bra fitting via a video in the back room (no offense). If you run on the "larger" size, VS won't have the bra that you need/want.

WWBD?
I worked in a retail Bali, Hanes for a little while and there are instructions online on how to measure yourself. The problem with VS is that they often run small. I'd you need a DD, they will try to make you a D to get a sale-example. Many of us have fat, skin and that makes getting bras tricky. I waited until I stopped losing weight to buy the "fancy" bras. Even now I like the Maidenform bras sold at Target, since my girls are deflated.
