I am exactly 2 weeks out today and 20 lbs lighter then when I left the hospital. I'm going back to work today, picking up and OT day. I work nights so I am going to need to flip everything around. So far it is not looking so good. I am wide awake and ready to go. I have so much more energy and everything just seems wonderful! Praise God! I hope everything is this great at 0200 in the morning. LOL

Other than flipping everything around, how are you feeling physically? was 2 weeks enough, would you have done just as well with less, or prefer more time for recovery?  I know everyone is different, but.......since it's fresh in your mind, thought I'd ask.....

I'm hoping to have WLS this summer, and using vacation time.......since I still have 3 more weeks for the year, want to plan it as best as I can.

Thanks!  --Sis

Just thought I would answer your post.  I am 2 weeks and 4 days out.  I was feeling great, but now into this third week, my nerves are coming back and I am having a lot of discomfort.

My recommendation is to definitely take a full 3 weeks off and get lots of wrest.  Don't do more than walk.  I felt so good at two weeks and ended up overdoing it and tearing an abdominal muscle........OUCH!!!  That started feeling better and now that my nerves are waking again, my large incision area on the left is hurting.

I will be so glad to be healed and on my way to excising and getting fit!

Good luck with your surgery and remember to take it easy.

I had surgery on April 29th, which was a Monday and I probably could have went back to work on Friday. I only had pain the day of surgery from all the gas but as soon as I could I walked alot to get that gassy feeling out of my chest and I felt fine. The most difficult part is learning how to eat and drink. I am on mushie food now and I can only eat about 1 oz to 1 1/1 oz. I can drink ok. I feel wonderful I am exercising 45 to 55 minutes a day. I normally hate to exercise but I am really starting to get into it. Good luck with your surgery I'm sure you will be fine!

Just be prepared to tire more easily.  I was only off a week and would have been back sooner if the office had been open.  Make sure you keep drinking while at work.  Don't over do it, take it easy.

I took one week off. The second week I only made it about 3/4 of a day and had to go home and take a nap. Third week I was fine and it got better every week after that.

I think that is marvelous! I had VSG on 4/22.....I feel well enough to go back to work I guess, but my right side feels like I pulled something (hurts sometimes) and still not meeting my water or protein stats...so I think I'm gonna need anoth week off )).... Thank goodness for FMLA

That's great to hear you are feeling energetic and wonderful! Good luck with your first day back!

I'm having surgery on Friday, back to work the next Thursday. A little nervous about whether I'll be ready, but I don't have much of a choice due to my company's poor vacation policy. Your post gives me hope!

First day back is going great so far. It is 0200 and I am over half way through my 12 hour shift, not tired at all. I have got up and walked around a few times. I know I am lucky that I can do that. Everybody I work with is very encouraging and understand that I need to get up and move around. I don't know how I will feel Tuesday night but right now all is well. I am working 4, 12 hour days in a row so please keep your fingers crossed for me.
