Hello, I'm Dimesha and I'm 4 days post op vertical sleeve gastrectomy. My surgery went well. I feel fine. Trying hard to fulfill my fluid and protein intake requirements. Seeking any positive comments, suggestions and support! Thank you in advance!

Congrats! I'm just over two weeks out and I can tell you it gets better every day. Your job right now is first, taking in enough fluids, and second, getting in your protein. And walking too. Follow your doctor's plan and you'll have a great recovery.

What they said.

Sip and walk, sip and walk. It is FAR more important at this stage of the game to stay hydrated over anything else. If all you are comfortable with is plain water, rock it out.

Thanks morgans! I'm not yet at 64 oz of water or my 72 grams of protein. I'm at about 40 oz of water and 30-40 grams of protein so I need to pick it up on both ends. Today begins a new week so I have to challenge myself at least to increasing my water because I'm determined not to be hospitalized or have to go for outpatient infusion of iv fluids because of dehydration.

I'm 4 days post op too! Getting my fluids in is really hard so far. But SF Popsicles are my new best friend! Cheers to a speedy recovery to you!

Congratulations and welcome to the loser's bench!  Remember to sip, walk, rest, repeat!

Focus on your liquids first and experiment with temperatures to find what your sleeve likes best - mine liked really cold, some people say theirs only liked warm stuff.  A lot of people don't do well with straigh****er - decaf teas or crystal lite seem to work though!

Good luck and happy healing!
