15 Months Post Op - Haven't Posted in Awhile
Wow. it has been awhile. I hope I can figure out how to post pictures one of these days. My before picture makes me cry, both sad and happy tears. I was in such a very sad dark place prior to surgery, 30 years of dieting.. gaining 50, loosing 50 but I still had that extra 50 that I could never get rid of.......
I have never once regretted my choice to have the VSG surgery. On March 29, 2012 I entered a new phase in my life. I embraced it, I followed all the rules.. and still do today. I went into surgery in a size 20 pant, size 2X shirt. I hated myself. Today, I am wearing a size 2/4 pant, Size Small shirt. I LOVE SHOPPING AGAIN! I went from a weight of 248 at my surgery consult and have weighed 127 for over 5 months now! It amazes me !
Life is good. I do not feel deprived, I can eat everything. My life has changed in the way i look at food though. I think about nutrition, protein first, how "good" something will be for me, rather than "I just want it". I keep track of my calories and exercise on my i-phone on "MyFitnessPal", it keeps me in check. I LOVE MY NEW LIFE.
I was one of the lucky ones.. my surgery was flawless.. I recovered quickly and was back to work in two weeks. I am not young either, I am 54 years old. :) Thanks for reading, we are not all cut from the same mold, I just wanted to share my little story of hope and change. Life is GOOD! :) :) :)
