Protein Bar without Sucralose/Splenda
Looking for a bar that is high in protein and low carb without artificial sweeteners or sucralose. Or a great recipe to make my own ! ;-)
Unless in maintinence Id seriously consider staying away from the protein bars unless an emergency food...
my reasons
I can only eat 3 oz of chicken breast and I'm full... 100 calories/ 0 carbs and 20 grams of protein
Quest bar- 160-210 calories, 24 grams carbs (they say 17 fiber so net carbs low but my body doesnt seem to get the message) and 20 grams of protein..
Worst thing is.. I eat one, I'm NOT FULL and I want one more.. especially the cookie dough one. I could totally eat two in a sitting... 400 calories and barely feel like Ive eaten. This a.m. 6 bites of chicken gave me the foamies (ate too fast I think.... yuck).
If you want to continue to lose weight, Id suggest, based upon my crack like addict experience with Quest bars... that you stick to real whole foods. You may have a totally different experience with them... but for convenience Id still take jerky and string cheese over a bar, based upon my personal triggers.
Best to you!

i get my stuff at lowcarbcanada.ca ... they also sell the about time protein which is sweetened with stevia (individual bottles too if you want to try some ... mint mocha is my fav.). cheap shipping too.

yes, i tried the mint flavored one. it's just about the worst thing i have eaten since surgery - had a few bites and threw it away. i do not recommend.
I like the quest bars, they have protein and fiber ... that's the only way to justify the calories imo. Plus they taste pretty good, just half a bar is enough to satisfy and boost up my numbers for the day. I havent found any other brands that have that same balance.
Has anyone heard of or tried Larabars? They only have like 7 ingredients and are supposed to be better then the average bar, a little pricey, but just wondered about the taste.
thanks,
Lisa
I tried those well before my preop journey began. Tasted okay. Tasted too okay, because I binged on them. Not something I would touch with a ten-foot pole now in WL mode and probably not in maintenance, knowing myself and my triggers.
