I'm scared to go out to eat

It's not really about WHAT to eat as much as it's amount how do I make sure I don't overeat?  I am so reliant on my scale and measuring cups. NOTHING goes in my mouth without being measured (that's what she said).  

I am so super tempted to bring a scale out to eat but that would be crazy pants!

Any tips?

Doesnt sound crazy pants to me.  You could take a measuring cup as well.   Most restaurants have calorie counts online.  Order something and cut it in 1/3 or even 1/4.  This is a good barometer of what you are eating.

When I go out to eat I cut my protein in 4 pieces and eat 1/4 of it.  Sometimes I don't fini****  Just eat slow.  You'll know when you're full.

I've been out to eat a few times.  I ask for a to-go container with my meal.  I pack 1/2 - 3/4 of it up before I even start eating.  For me, I don't worry about the scale (although I've been tempted!) because my restriction kicks in quickly and I don't dare eat another bite.

I"ll only eat foods I've eaten already.  Salmon, naked chicken or light soups.   You don't want to try something new in public.  That could be dangerous!

Don't bring that scale or measuring cups...just eat 1/4-1/3 of the portion they bring you.  When you get home measure the remainder and you'll know how much you had (approximately).  I often order grilled shrimp and I know that I can eat 4 - 5 depending on the size.

Stick with what you've had before and eat carefully.  It's a little scary the first few times out, but it'll be okay!

When I eat out, I under eat.  If I order a 6 oz steak, I usually cut it up into 1/3's.  Now I know that I could more than likely eat 1/2 of it, I don't want to take that chance.  I can always eat more later or eat a protein snack if I get hungry.  There are certain places that I like to go and eat at because I always have food for the next day!  YumYum

there are tricks, for your dense protein, the palm of your hand is about 4 oz. So if you are eating chicken or steak and you are between 2-4oz you want to eat only as much as about the size of the palm of your hand or half. For other things if you cup your hand that is somewhere between half a cup and a cup so if you are measuring something like salad or other veggies that should give you some idea. The hard part in restaurants is drinks. Its in front of you, you will drink it, so the trick there is to order something you would not drink. So if you don't like iced tea, order iced tea. Pre-meal bread or chips and salsa are also a tough thing so ask the water to not bring them or have your date keep them on his side away from you and tell him to smack your hand if you reach for them or your drink.
