surgery questionssss
Hey sleevers im getting my surgery done next week yayyy lol... so back to my question,,,,my hubby wanted to stay the full 2 or 3 days with me at the hospital but im thinking ill be too drugged up to even notice hes there,,, so my question is if yall had some one stay with you or if you went at it alone which is better??????
thanks and give me sum of your experiences
Good luck... I'm only 1 week out of surgery, I've lost 9 lbs and I'm glad I did it, but its not easy. It's a bit of a roller coaster. My hubby is generally really supportive, but today he was kinda a butt head. I had a rough day and he really wasn't there for me... It has me really down... Be thankful for your hubby!
I had a pretty easy surgery, and found that I just wanted to sleep afterwards. My hubby stayed with me for the first afternoon, and then I sent him home so he would be more comfortable. If I had more pain or any complications, I might have wanted him there to advocate for me or support me. But in my case, I just slept most of the first two days. I got to go home after only one night.
Best of luck,
Carol

I was the exact opposite of Shamrock - I didn't want anyone around me. My hubby was there the day of surgery (Friday) but then I didn't have him come bac****il it was time to go (Sunday). Kind of depends if you're an extrovert (draw energy from others) or introvert (draw energy from solitude). Having a bunch of people around me when I'm low energy just depletes me more. I just wanted to sleep, work on walking a lot, plan for what to do when I got home and not have an audience. My brother and his family came up for 20 minutes and it wiped me out!
Very personal choice - and also depends upon the hospital you'll be at and how good the staff is. I was at an excellent facility and had great care.
This makes me so sad. I have chosen to be very open about my surgery with family, friends and co-workers. I cannot express how grateful I have been for all of the support. Please know that there is a lot of support out there, even if you can't find it in your own circles. Good luck and we are making the right decision for us!
