Welcome to the forum. First, keep coming back and read all you can. Use search to investigate topics and questions as they come to mind reading these posts. I learned a lot here. Be a critical reader! We are non of us experts- only in that we can relate what does and does not work for us. Everyone's experience will be different. However, there are some principles that seem to hold true-- you can begin to practice these things now. The discipline will help you post op and make the experience less overwhelming. 1. Begin drinking water/fluids now...at least 64 ounces- 90 is even better. 2. Protein first, then good for you veggies, then maybe fruit. Leave the refined carbs alone as best you can. 3. Start logging your food intake and become mindfull of what tou are eating. 3. Excercise - find something you will stay with ( mine is walking- or what I call slogging. 4. Recognize that every day- starting TODAY is an opportunity for you to make some progress. The time between now and your surgery can be used to strengthen you physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually- the weight is important, yes, but it is these other things- discipline, perservance, commitment that will get you across the finish line. My very best to you! Smiles your way today. Bonnie

Hi Bonnie, Last night was the first night I did not eat candy before going to bed. I had Greek yogurt for breakfast and tons of water all day. I work at a restaurant and shared an order of chicken breast nachos with my co-worker. I had a child's 4 piece Happy meal with small fries and apples, for dinner 5 oz of Tilapia and fresh green beans. I am starting my food journal today and will track whatever goes in my mouth. I agree that mental, emotional, and spiritual strengthening are important before and after surgery. Thank you for the words of encouragement. Protein first, next veggies, then fruit. No refined carbs for me because I just can not eat one helping.
