Are there any supertasters?
Supper taster? Do you mean that you like to check your cooking in process? Ya,sometimes for seasoning purposes. Motivation is everything. Honesty with my self is one side benefit that has come with WLS for me. I used to eat dinner. Before dinner in the name of "tasting for seasoning". Really, I wanted to get my eating in and then eat again. Spending time in community with my family in sharing a meal has become a special time for me- if I eat my meal cooking it, then I cheat myself of that special time. Decide for yourself which is more important'.

Sadly I miss typed, I am a 'super'taster and I am looking for others. Basically it means you hate most foods to start with, because you have twice the taste buds or more then most. Most are underweight but I have to think there is more then just me who is overweight since almost all do not eat green veggies or raw veggies.
Wow! How interesting is that? So, you mean that every bite is very intense in taste? So, does that cause aversion to some foods? Cravings for others? Do you eat lots of food trying to get that "super flavor" if it is. Not present in a bland food? Are there any bland foods for you? So many questions...just trying to wrap my mind around the impact of a super taster on weight loss/maintence. Very interesting.

Humans developed more taste buds as a way to avoid poisonous plants, however most people have evolved past that because it is no longer needed. Some have evolved even further to be undertasters. Most vegetables have a very bitter taste that takes a lot of training at an early age to over come, I was a stubborn child. On the other end most do not like alcohol, coffee, anything too sweet like raspberry, or too fatty. The sweet and fatty is why most are under weight, however I was severely underweight growing up so the doctor had me eat more then normal amounts so when my metabolism caught up I was already eating more then normal portions. I never ate a ton but since most of it was pasta, potatoes, and cheese, well as you can guess I gained a lot of weight. I do experiment with food a lot to achieve that right taste though.
I was super sensitive to tastes after surgery too. Not everything - protein shakes, vitamins (omg - they would not stay down to save my life!), and lots of things that tasted good pre-op just didn't taste good at all post-op. Especially chicken broth - ugh it made me gag!
I feel for you - it is hormonal and it does get better with time!
