Navigating restaurants for us can be challenging, but a necessary part of post-op life to maintain our skinny.

My claim is that I can eat anywhere/anytime and keep it together.......

Last night I was at a "Pizza Joint" called California Pizza Kitchen, a middle/high type of eatery....

Pizza place and bariatric patient don't really go hand in hand...... but than again, it's just food and we have choices......

Here is a loose account of my dialog with the server person.......

Me - Hi, I've had WLS and eat a very small amount and I was looking at your "small plate" menu, but it's best for me to have something more protein/meat centric......

Her - We can do the Arugula salad and add grilled chicken......

Me - Perfect

This is what came...... perfect !

Very nice!

I totally agree about really being able to eat anywhere...it's truly about making choices and being a bit creative. I've trained my friends as, though I knew they were well-meaning, I hated it when they felt decisions around where we ate had to revolve around me. NO! I'm just like anyone else and am sufficiently empowered to make my own decisions regardless of my environment.

Love my sleeve! :-)

This looks perfect because salad is a slider for me.  There seems to be a decent amount of chicken on there.  I love me some chicken salads too!  Thanks for the post!

I guess I did leave out an important point.......

I ate about half the the chicken and all the salad......

I'm going to see if I can have it with grilled shrimp next time......

Funny...I was going to recommend the grilled shrimp. I love CPK and am glad I can eat there again after the sleeve!

AWESOME choice! I've also done their lettuce wraps (with half boxed to go home).

CPK has always been an easy place to eat when that's where my friends want to go. (Not a place I pick, but I have one friend who loves going there....) I've never had an issue getting what I want when I eat there. They are always happy to modify anything on the menu for me. Will have to try that salad thing they made for you. Looks great.

My conversations usually start this way:

Server: Can I bring you something to drink?

Me: No thank you, I don't drink with meals...

Server: How about some water?

Me: Really, it's okay, I'm on a special diet and I don't mix food & liquids...

Server: There's no charge for the water...

Me: Okay, jus****er (which then sits there untouched for the entire meal but it gets them to stop asking me about it)
