I have chronic pain that was being treated with extended release morphine prior to surgery. Because of the pill taking issues they put me on a fentanyl patch prior to surgery, but it hasn't been giving me very good control. The Dr decided to try the extended relief morphine again today. I was wondering if anyone else has taken it post surgery and if they had success with it?

With a sleeve the extended release should work since you don't malabsorb like with the RNY, the time release issue only applies to those with a surgery that causes malabsorbtion. That is one of the benefits of the sleeve, that and that you can also take NSAIDs with a sleeve. I've used both the fentanyl patch and extended release morphine and I prefer the patch since it makes me less sleepy but if it doesn't help your pain then you should do fine with the morphine. I'm sure if I am wrong someone here will set me straight but I've read quite a bit over here and that is what I've gotten from previous posts. Good luck!
