Just got home this morning after a 4 days hospital stay. I have to say, the entire staff couldn't be kinder, more helpful or considerate. I felt really miserable the first 48 hours. I had a partially collapsed lung, which made it hard for me to walk around and breathe, even with supplemental oxygen. Then I ran a fever of 101.5. Then I  had an allergic reaction to my pain med. And THEN I had some kind of adverse reaction to my psych meds, which I have taken for about 4 years. I was extremely sedated and when i woke up in the middle of the night, I thought I was in a morgue!  I was scared and I didn't know how to get help so I just had to bear with it for a couple hours until someone came into my room for a regular check. Thankfully, we got that all straightened out and I didnt' have to go through that again~

I have been taken off a whole bunch of meds--in fact, I dumped all teh pills into a cereal bowl and filled it up to the top! How crazy is that!

I was able to get some decent food in me. I was dying for a change. In the hospital, they sent me coffee (which I don't drink) and baby rice cereal. Bleah! Plus this nasty protein drink that made me want to vomit. Double bleah!  I made a very small plate of baby food--1-oz. each of squash, turkey, and pears.  It took me an hour to eat it, LOL and now I feel like I swallowed a football. I think I'll go make me another "eggnog" for later!

I'm so sorry you had to go through all this.  Sounds like you were banded around the same time I was, 12-30-13.  Weight is already coming off, but the urge to splurge is still alive and strong.  I've got to kick it fast

Yeah, i was sleeved 12/31/13.  I was very surprised that i lost weight while i was there. It's very common to gain weight from all the fluids and hormone fluctuations.

i just about did myself in at supper tonight. i got my Unjury Protein Chicken broth today, so I made some for supper. I made it by the directions, 1 scoop to 8 oz of water. I don't know what I was thinking. I haven't had 8-0z of anything since Monday! But somehow I got all liquid down in about 15 min. Ugh. I won't do that again.

I am having my revision from Lap Band to Sleeve tomorrow and wanted to ask a question.  I know what it feels like and what happens to you when you eat/drink to fast with the band....but what happens if you do it with the VSG?  Is it kind of the same?  PAINFUL

Any input would be great as I am not sure what the differences will be for me.....

Thanks!

I can drink about 1/2 oz. with no problem. I can tell within seconds if I've had too much. I get a very uncomfortable pressure under my breast bone and pain in my left shoulder that radiates up my neck to my skull. Yeah, that's not fun at all.  Usually if that happens, i can sit up or walk around for a couple minutes and the liquids goes on down.

So it's kind of the same with the lap band. Good to know thank you so much!  I'm a big water drinker so that's why was worried about it.

Me, too, and so far I'm happy to report that my taste in water has not changed at all!  Some people ge****er fatigue or just plain don't like it. But preop I used to drink about 100 ounces a day and right now i'm averaging about 70 ounces at 6 days post op.

Good luck on your surgery. I hope everything goes smoothly for you.
