Good Morning VSG People,

I live in southwest-lower Michigan about 3 miles from Lake Michigan. We got hit HARD last night with snow. I have about 14" of new snow on my decks and it's about -10F outside. Needless to say, school was closed today, even for non-teaching staff.

How do you guys NOT eat all day in these situations? I am going to read a book in a few minutes, then get on my stationary bike and maybe surf the web a bit. But I have the urge to go eat something. Luckily, I don't have any junk in the house... I just put a bag of frozen broccoli and a pat of butter with seasonings in my crockpot for dinner. Will sprinkle with an ounce of cheddar. But I'd REALLY love some chili no

I basically have this issue each weekend, as I don't have the rigid schedule that I do during the work week.  I plan my 5 small meals for the day, which I eat 3 hours apart.  I won't eat them one minute before, and I won't eat in between meals.  It's hard.  I want to graze, but I force myself to stick to my schedule and to my planned meals.

I drink water constantly between meals which are 4x a day at set times.  So between the hunger control of the VSG, and the water, it's all good.

I work part time from home so I've had to build a rigid discipline that does not permit eating except at meal times.  There are a few things I do to help myself. I put a lot of energy into cooking food I enjoy, so I can tell myself,  "I don't need that pizza.  I can have that yummy cabbage and ground beef casserole next meal." Also  I don't have junk food in the house, and I took up knitting which keeps my hands occupied.  I also have a tremendous fear of gaining the weight back, and that keeps me from cheating.  I never want to be morbidly obese again.

Good work planning the frozen broccoli for dinner.  It'll taste sooo good! (smile)

best wishes,

Carol

I like to keep my mind and hands active so I play on Pogo or do Hidden Object Games. I try and cut off food by 4pm so I can get all my fluids in without staying up until midnight using the bathroom lol

I'm in the same situation.  I live in Michigan and got hammered.  I made chili.  The beans and lean ground beef it is high in protein.

Hey there, I am a Michigander too.... we have about 15 inches here in the last 36 hours.  Holed up at home is hard, period.  I have been holed up for a month now (recovery from Ps) and simply make a goal of not gaining.  Did well up until the last 4-5 days, and now the scale is showing 2-3 pounds gained.  I have to keep the junk food out of the house.  I have been eating all good choices, but just too much.  Can't wait to get back to school and my regular routine!  Stay the path... it should only be a couple more days of disrupted routines.  I know my district already called school for tomorrow, so hopefully we can return Wednesday.

I would make chili. I actually tend to cook a lot on days like that, go figure it keeps me from eating. I do a lot of prepping then and cleaning like a mad lady. I live in Maine and it has been in the negatives here and snowing like crazy. I am over it, can't wait til July when we move to Florida!

I play with my 3 year old, surf the web, menu plan, prep for the week ahead, clean, reorganize, watch movies, and when I get really bored - beat on my husband...he likes it!
