Mol,

Since you have time before you have to go on this pre op diet you might want to try out some protien drinks. Most have one serving packets that you could try out before you buy a whole tub or box or jug full. I wish I would have had time to experiment and find the one that I could tolorate the best.

Just some idea, comong from someone who was told their surgery date was 7 days away and here drink this. :(

Starting Pre-op diet Wednesday, I have to do the following..

1- Two weeks prior to surgery.

2- Protein shakes 8oz -16oz  three times a day.  ( NO SOLID FOOD )

3- Drink clear liquids in between protein shakes.

4- Failure to follow the pre-op diet may cause your surgery to be cancelled.

5- Surgery date  Feb 5, 2014.

My pre op diet is 1000 cal (500 from protein shakes and 500 from food). I'm glad it's not full liquids but another part of me kind of wishes it was. Only because now I have to make food choices. Though the food choices will help me once I am able to eat food after the liquid and soft food stage.

Preop diets are much easier than they used to be.   Mine was two weeks of sugar-free clear liquids only.  I had no protein drinks until after surgery.
