I feel like my surgery didn't work

I sympathize with your feeling that the surgery didn't work.   I too was surprised at the quantity I could put into my new stomach after surgery.   But I now understand that it's because our stomachs were still healing. I'm at six weeks and it's only been very recently since I'm eating solid food that I feel the restriction.  When I was on liquids,  pureed and soft foods it was similar to what you describe.   Please be patient.  The restriction will kick in once you replace the slider foods with dense foods.  And 25 lbs is no small accomplishment.

The three things that seem to work are (1) solid foods, (2) well-timed meals, and (3) lots and lots of water.

Once you get those pieces aligned, you can shut down hunger almost entirely.

I don't see how a plication to revise your sleeve would reduce hunger. The reduction of hunger from the original sleeve comes from removing a large portion of the stomach that produces a lot of ghrelin - the hunger hormone. With a plication, you should be feeling more restriction (once you are healed) and you should get satisfied faster - but it won't reduce the "starving" feeling. Were you "starving" before your revision?

No I wasn't starving before my revision.  But I was eating 1200-1500 calories a day.  Now I'm eating 500

I agree with Nikke I don't think you are going to feel much hunger reduction from just the plication. But, you MIGHT. Who knows? I say give it more time. Could you have more acid production since your capacity has been reduced with the plication creating a more "high pressure" system? Perhaps a PPI? That might help with the hunger. As far as restriction, it may take more time. I don't know how long it takes to heal after plication as far as "feeling" in your sleeve. I am rooting for you here. I know you've been through a LOT. I'm wishing you the best. I hope this works out for you. 25 lbs is a great start.

I'm 3 weeks out and starving too! I am hopeful now with the responses here, I have been having an overwhelming feeling that it didn't work, too!

Hi, I'm also 5 weeks after my surgery and have also lost 25 pounds and am now stuck and have not lost any weight in a week.  I'm also starving and because I felt like I did not have any surgery at all, I wanted to test it and I can eat a lot more than 1/2 cup they told me I would be able to and I don't feel full.  I also feel very defeated and depressed because I am also starving all the time.  I was on the fence about getting the surgery because I was scared that it would be false hopes once again and that maybe it would help me not have to exercise myself to death to lose some weight and it appears that i was right and that I should not have had this surgery.

I hope that all the other comments to this post reassure you that your surgery did work and that you won't fail.  But please be careful with "testing" your sleeve this early out - you could damage yourself!
