so m having like a stabbing pain in my lower right side of my abdomen by my belly button. its just about 2 inches below my incision where they pulled out my stomach. HAS ANYONE HAD THIS . it feels like im being stabbed by hot knives. a few have said that its just the scar tissue under the skin... Im 2.5 weeks post op. If you have, how long did it last? and did you have anything to help without taking the medicine they sent home with? BTW ive lost a total on 17 lbs since surgery and a total of 33 since my preop diet to now... im on my way

Hmmm... I would think that if the pain were originating from that incision (scar tissue or otherwise... although scar tissue doesn't hurt is it FORMS), it would hurt AT the incision, not below it... Is the pain deep? Does it feel like it's in the skin? Deep in your intestines? Is it worse when you move? Twist? Bend? Are you overexerting yourself? Is there any redness? Is it hot to the touch? Bruising? Does it feel hard when you palpate it? Is it a throbbing or a stinging pain? If it is a stinging pain that has no heat/redness, it is likely just your nerves healing. That pain felt like a stinging pinch... Seriously almost like a bee sting at times.

If there is any NEW tenderness, redness/heat, NEW swelling, etc. Don't play around. Go get it checked out. Here's hoping it's nothing but normal healing :) I'd give your surgeon a ring any way just to keep him in the loop.

I had the same pain but it was right at the incision site.  The fact that yours is below is weird. I would call the doc just in case. I used heat when nothing else worked.  I had a microwavable bag that I could get hot and put on the area with material in between.  It was my best friend.

Congrats on the weight loss

I had pain in that exact spot! I called my surgeon to ask about it, and he said that he puts a complicated figure-eight suture through multiple layers of muscle right there, so it sometimes gets painful as it's healing.

I used a heating pad, and I also took Advil, but you should probably check with your doctor on that front. I was cleared for NSAIDs from the start since opiates don't do jack for me and I did my whole recovery on Advil, though some doctors don't like you to take it.

And congrats on your progress so far! :)

I had the same thing.  Still do, occasionally.  And I get it in new spots.  Always near but never directly at an incision.  I think this is because of my fat composition...it's all in my midsection...so just because my incision on the skin is in one place the actually spot underneath is displaced because of the fat.  When I lay down, I feel these sore spots move to my incision.  hahaha  Anyway, it is pulling from the healing scar tissue.  As new tissue forms it's tight and sometimes it pulls when you move a certain way.  It gets a ton better!  I'm almost 6 weeks out and rarely feel it.
