NSV - First Outdoor Bike Ride
I went out on my first outdoor ride last night. I'd been doing the Spin class over the winter but I have to say, there is nothing better than sunshine and the wind in your face feeling! I bought a new bike last weekend as a gift to myself for approaching onederland - only 8 lbs more. What a difference a good bike makes. I planned on waiting until onderland but after trying the bikes, I pulled the trigger now. :)Going from my brick of a hybrid Trek to a Specialized Carbon frame was a wow moment! It's was like going from my Trailblazer to a Corvette!
I did 12 miles with a steep hill at the end to my apt. I figured I'd have to walk up it but noooo, I have the new Cheryl and the wonder bike!! I crawled right up that hill.
Loving my new life style!
That is for sure. I had a head wind going out. But coming back was great. I have signed up for the Tulip Pedal on 4/19. I'll probably do the 20 miles. Not quite ready for 40. It's a fun ride around all the tulip fields up in Skagit Valley. I also plan on commuting to work 1-2 days a week. It's only 6 miles each way. I did it several years ago. It's a beautiful ride along the slew with the duck, eagles and morning mist, and a bonus view of Mt. Rainer in the background.....ahhhhhh. I love the Pacific NorthWest!
Congrats! I went on my first bike ride last weekend since last fall. It was so easy, I couldn't believe it. I felt great the next day, instead of sore. Just shows how much I've changed since surgery. BTW, we share the same surgery date!
Now I just have to wait until the current Blizzard is over so I can go biking again.
