Pre Op Diet - I'm twice as afraid
I know we are complete strangers so when I say this you will not get the full impact of my words, but, if I could do it, anyone can!!! I was the biggest food junkie ever and I had major anxiety over the pre op diet. I was on liquids only for two weeks. The first two days were the hardest for me, then everyday after got easier. The moments where I felt like I was struggling, I would heat up a large mug of low sodium chicken broth and sip on that. It was savory and filling. I wound up feeling a little grateful for the pre op diet. It jump started weight loss (20 pounds), and also got me in the mindset that I don't need to be eating food all day in order to live and be happy. I know it will be scary and you are dreading it, but it will happen, you will do it, and a few months later you will be on here doling out advice to the next person dreading theirs. You got this.
Is your pre-op diet liquids only? Some people get to have a small meal as well each day! (I'm jealous of those people, mine was liquid only.)

I am 7 days into my 14 day liquid diet. 5 Ensure shakes per day plus other clear liquids such as low sodium broth, SF jello, coffee (no cream, artificial sweetener only). No real food. So far it's not as bad as i thought but my worst days were over the weekend when I wasn't working. Another thing I figured out is to sip the shakes over about 20 mins and not drink water at the same time, kind of how they want us to be after surgery. That has helped me to feel more full.
I'm not saying I don't miss food but I just keep thinking ahead to surgery and how long I've waited and how much I want it. And if i have to walk through these 2 weeks of h*ll to give me the best chance for a healthier, happier life I'll do it. You can do this. You can. Just keep reminding yourself why you want the surgery.
And, yes, you might feel moody but this, too, shall pass.
