Going off Lasix and weight gain?

As someone who takes a heavy diuretic (similar to Lasix) you should never go off of it cold turkey. You should gradually work yourself off, and yes not taking it will make you gain water weight. The days I forget my pill I get all swollen up from not taking it. Good Luck!

I'm home from the doctor, and she said to wait it all out.  She said that I could be gaining a little weight from water due to discontinuing the Lasix.  She said that my blood pressure and weight will both fluctuate as my body is adjusting to surgery, adjusting to discontinuing both of my meds, and adjusting it's fluid levels.  My blood pressure was super low, and she said to monitor it closely and be careful when standing up.

She said if it gets too low this weekend, or if I am really lightheaded to call the exchange.

so, my plan is to not weigh until Monday morning.  After that I will try to get on a once per week schedule of weighing instead of every day.

she also said that my labs from Monday did not show dehydration, but to continue to push fluids since my urine is dark.

what do you all think?

Sounds like a plan to me!  Yeah, you may not be officially dehydrated, but if your urine is dark,  you need to up your fluid intake.  And I'm going to second Gwen's suggestion that you use one of the sports drinks that has electrolytes or Vitamin Water Zero.  The first 6 months post-op are tricky times for your body as it tries to heal from major surgery, adjust to the radical eating changes and the weight loss.
