Preop diet protein shakes.
Need some suggestions with my preop diet. Surgery is scheduled for the 5th. Yesterday was my first day on the diet. I'm using premier protein shakes and finding them to be disgusting to the point that I want to gag. Any suggestions on better tasting shakes or how I can spruce these up to make them go down easier?
That's what I drank, the vanilla. Aside from flavors, try mixes. I was fine with water, but milk tasted better, and soy milk was fantastic. I added a spoon of metamucial and got a tasty orange flavor. I'm eating (drinking) the Syntax Nectar my 1st week post op and should'a opened my sample pack earlier for some variety - each sample has tasted okay-good so far. You can order a sample pack from their website - google it. They are an isolate protein and okay as a clear liquid on most dr's plans. Good luck.
I have two shakes that I really like. One is the Optimum Nutrition Double Rich Chocolate and the other is Syntrax Peanut Butter Cookie. I make mine with unsweetened almond milk and they're both super tasty.

Thanks all. I was feeling very discouraged my first few days on the preop diet because the shakes I was on were so bad. I live in a small town in Alaska, so finding what's needed locally is a long shot if not impossible. The only other options I have locally are advocare (26g protein and 220 calories) or carnation sugar free instant breakfast. Shipping almost anything here takes about a week, maybe a day or two less with express. I'm heading to gnc to see what else I might have as an option locally.
At least around here GNC sells the Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard line (recommended above) and I think they taste really good. The numbers are great on them too. Good luck!
