allergies
Is anyone allergic to protein shakes? If so, what reaction do you get, and what do you do to get in enough protein?
I think I'm developing an allergy to something. It could be anything though. My eyelids are puffy and back of the throat feels strange. My eyeballs have been kind of sore since I started my preop liquid diet.
you shore your not allergic to grass pollen , food allergies, are usually more like diarrhea and vomiting , and rashes
what your describing is what my hubby gets this time of year grass pollen is super high on the west coast at this time probably everywhere , you probably need an antihistamine, call your pcp
I found out last weekend that I'm allergic to whey. I got the same reactions that I get to my normal allergies (all plants, trees, grasses, dirts, animals, etc) but I take meds and get shots once a week to control it. A few drinks into a whey protein drink, I had itching, sneezing, and that weird feeling in my throat. It didn't go away for 2 days even with my regular meds and extra benadryl. I do fine with soy, milk, and right now I've been drinking RAW Protein.. which has like rice, sprouts, and other veggie proteins. It seems to work ok and I haven't had any itching.
It can be difficuilt to determine what is trigggering an allergic response. My allergist would say to completely drop from your diet whatever you think is triggering it, and 2 weeks later reintroduce it to see how you react. I didn't notice if you were pre or post op- but if post op lactose intolerance can be an issue for some.
