Jen, upon reading further in my binder, I do see references about the other surgeries so I think you are correct in that this binder is used by my NUT for all surgeries.

Even if you are in an accident and unconscious, the EMT's are not going to be concerned that you are hungry and start tube feeding you before they take you to the hospital. They will stabilize you and stop bleeding, but not be performing emergency measures to keep you from feeling hungry.

Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
NG tubes are not only used for tube feedings or to "keep you from feeling hungry." They are used if your stomach needs to be "pumped," for instance, if you've overdosed on something. There are other reasons they are used, as well.
