Can I eat these in the soft diet phase?

What are they?  My NUT approved black bean soup, which is pureed.

They're not pureed, but I could mash them up.They're pinto beans in a sauce.

I ate beans in the soft food phase -- not the full liquids, but soft yes.

Read the ingredients - some can be super high in sugar and I'd skip those.

I have been eating refried beans and also beanie weenie.  Ranch style beans would likely be ok.  I don't have a can at the moment to look at nutrition info but I bet they're fairly high in protein.  You might take one or two bites and just wait a bit to see if they go down ok.  They're a little bit spicy so it may not be a good thing.   Totally depends on your chemistry though :)

Beans actually don't have that much protein...

Lentils, on the other hand...those have much more protein than your run of the mill pinto bean.
