Oh, man. Did I ever need to read this tonight! I'm 10 months out and started to lose slower...and then the sugar bug hit me. Damn that southern chess pie and it's deliciousness! Now, I didn't eat a whole slice...but I would have one bite here, then a few days later, another bite there...and the thing is, I started craving sugar..BAD.  If I'm being honest (and apparently I am) it started with the protein bars. I would eat my protein and then decide I needed "dessert" so I would have a protein bar and aren't I being good?

The crap we tell ourselves to justify and minimize bad food behaviors, huh?

I'm back on track..thanks to posts like yours and the rest of the forum.

Peace be with you

Colleen

Ah, the protein bar.  In our house we call them what they really are, candy bars!!  Honest to god, the carb count in a Quest bar is as high as some honest-to-goodness candy bars.  And because I'm carb-sensitive, they tend to trigger me every. single. time.

Hi Pogo.

I've had a lot of days where I struggled.  Days when I was constantly distracting myself to keep from eating.  Stretching the time between meals.

Its only since I've added the 4th meal, and about 400 extra calories per day now that I'm in maintenance that I feel satisfied.  Now I feel like I can maintain without struggling. I don't know how long it will last.  But right now it feels sustainable.

I think I did you a dis-service by making it sound easy.  Keep the faith.  You can do this if you stick to the plan.

best wishes,

Carol

Beware those days where diet and exercise fatigue strike at the same time! Or is that nap time? ;p

Diet fatigue ~~ great example equating it with parenting. I sure hope hubs doesn't ever get marriage fatigue.

Diet fatigue is certainly a term I have used.... and when I use it I mean yes.... I'm tired of doing all of these good things I'm supposed to do in order to stay healthy LOL! I've been "good" for so long and now I just want to stomp my feet and **** and moan and wonder why this all isn't just easy!! haha

Diet fatigue?  What is in a name?  A rose is still a rose.  I agree with Carol.  Eating this way is just my way of life.  I don't feel as stressed.  When I was losing I did get tired.  For the most part it was just boredom.  I needed to change up the foods.  Fat girl waiting in the wings- not fixed - just given that one last chance.

Frisco~ Your definition of diet fatigue is pretty much the same as mine.

Having dropped as much weight as I have, I just look at my eating (always on plan) as my current normal.  It has become second nature and I don't even think twice about eating healthy and always what is best for me.  I know that I personally would not be as successful if I dabbled in eating certain foods or decided to go the route of life in food moderation.

I refuse to be that "poster" whining they never reached goal. It's all on me to use my tool the most effectively to get to the finish line (GOAL) and then start my continuous Victory Laps (Maintenance).
