6 days post surgery, and doing great
I had VSG on the 19th of September with Dr. Umbach in Las Vegas. From the moment I left the surgery center 4 hours after the procedure started, I have felt wonderful. I have had absolutely no pain or discomfort. The day after surgery, I spent about 3 hours walking the Las Vegas Strip. The most painful part of this whole thing was the inserting of the IV, so that is pretty good.
Dr. Umbach's plan allows "Slip and Slide" food during the first 2 weeks, so I have had Greek yogurt and cottage cheese to add a little texture to my thrice daily shakes. This morning I made a softly scrambled egg, and that went down just fine.
I have lost 12 pounds since surgery, and I never feel hungry. I do miss food though. Walking past all of the food places that I love was hard, and I know that I will miss my 4 Weinerschnitzel all beef chili cheese dog dinners, but that is what I signed on for.
I highly recommend Dr. Umbach to anyone considering this surgery, especially those who are self pay. At under $12,000, it is a great value for WLS in the USA.
