Even in weight loss mode I ate carbs, usually between 30-40 grams per day.  Some came from protein shake, greek yogurt, sugar-free popsicles, lunch meat, etc.  Eventually I started adding in some veggies too.

Hi,

Since there are some carbs in many foods, I think when people say they don't eat carbs, they mean they don't eat high-carb foods.  I am very sensitive to carbs, and I get all my carbs from dairy and low-carb veggies.  I avoid sugar, beads, grains, flour, rice, pasta, potatoes, etc.  Lately I've been indulging in an occasional few tablespoons of winter squash and sweet potatoes, and that seems to work ok.  But your best guide is your cravings.  If you start craving foods, then its time to cut back on the carbs.

During the height of my weight loss, I tried to keep carbs under 25g per day.  Now, in maintenance I'm up at closer to 40g per day, and that seems to be ok.

best wishes,

Carol

Spoke to NUT yesterday.  She said to try and keep the carbs no higher than 15 per meal.

It's almost impossible to eat zero carbs.  What I try to avoid are STARCHY carbs, like potatoes, rice, bread and pasta.

Right after my surgery, I kept my carbs between 20-30 grams per day.  Now they can vary depending on what I eat between 20-40 grams per day on average.  It's great to use an application like My Fitness Pal because it calculates the macronutrients for you and even has a bar code scanner.  You can also enter your recipes and it will calculate the nutritional values for you.

French fries?  Not such a great choice two months after surgery.  It's a slippery slope when you start introducing the foods back into your diet that made you fat in the first place.
