Sugar after surgery and hunger
Three grams of sugar is good. Some have a lot more. There is a difference between added sugar and sugar that is naturally occurring, but three grams is so small I wouldn't worry about it.

I also have a daughter in college and I applaud your supporting her! I had my VSG 4+ years ago and what I loved most during early post-op weeks was Miso Soup (from our local Japanese restaurant but it's easy to make) or refried beans sometimes w/ Jack cheese melted on top. I ate the beans served in a tiny ramekin smaller than a can of tuna. My favorite protein shake was/is Click. And lots of water!
It is great that you are supporting your daughter but please remember there is a fine line between being supportive and becoming the "food police".
For many people, the hunger comes back which is why it is so important for your daughter to learn good habits during her losing phase.
I hope she can find a good support group to attend. She needs to bond with other people who have had weight loss surgery.
