both.  I took the bcaa in a ziploc.  it looked like some crazy blue powdered drugs.  I pretty much have some stashed everywhere (car, office, etc.)

I also had some chike in a ziploc -- crazy brownish drug appearance.

Thanks again!

Branch Chain Amino Acids.  Honestly I do not know all of the medical stuff behind it.  Keith recommended it last year.  It helps my muscles recover (I think...)  I like the taste -- basically it is a calorie free (or super low cal ~5 / 20oz) powder that I add to water.

A quick google search just showed me "BCAA can be very helpful in maintaining muscle mass while operating at a calorie deficit" -- perfect.  :)

I buy it through amazon.

How fun, Gwen!  Your trip sounds awesome!  I have never been to Norway!

I have been to England twice, France once, and Tunisia since I had WLS.  I brought both the prepackaged Chike shake powder packets as well as ziploc baggies of protein powder and no one said a word.  I have had them in my checked luggage and in my carry on.

I should get a new passport picture because on this most recent trip, an Immigration official while I was transiting through Paris inspected my passport and looked at me quite a few times and then stared at me and said "You look different".  I said "Yes" and that was that.

I would maybe wait another couple of months and then get a new passport.

So excited for you - the trip will be so completely different than the last time you went, just due to your new levels of fitness not to mention looking skinnier and thus more Euro ;)

The first trip I took was SUPER awesome.  Here are my blog posts if you're curious!  https://www.mangeratrois.net/index.php/miscellaneous-article s/norway-diaries/1500-the-norway-diaries-part-one  It was definitely a trip of a lifetime.  And now I get to go back!  Super awesome.  I really like my partner's brother and his fiancee, even if I can't pronounce their names correctly ;)

Thanks for the experience of your travels!  I'm totally not worried now thanks to the responses.  I haven't had anyone comment on my license yet when I've been carded, which sort of makes me sad :P  I was thinking that I might look into getting a new passport in March though.  But.. who knows.  It seems like it won't be a problem.

This trip will be totally different!  I might even be able to buy clothes in a random store!  Not that I should, since stuff in Norway is stupidly expensive.  But I COULD.  That's just awesome.  And walking around Oslo should be so much easier than it was the first time.  I'm super excited!  My partner's mom is also really sweet and asked him what my dietary requirements were.  So I know I'll be in good hands.

What a super awesome blog about Norway - and in general!  I love that you menu plan each week.  You are so organized!  I am impressed, let me tell you.

I have only had one person comment on my license and I look DRAMATICALLY different...I was at Marshalls and spending wayyyyy too much money, and the guy asked to see my ID when I charged the whole order, and then he said "Wow, look at you!  You have lost so much weight!  Good for you!  Running?  Low carb?  What's the secret?" and he was so openly impressed and curious that I couldn't even be annoyed that he was so damn loud about it lol.  He seemed genuinely so happy for me ha ha.

I always feel sad when people post about unsupportive family and friends.  Like you, I have been fortunate to have everyone be so supportive and happy to learn about my dietary requirements and offer to help :)

Thanks!  I'm super far behind in recipe posting, but I try to keep on top of meal plans at the least.  I used to be a much more active blogger with my food blog.  Sigh.  Never enough time!

That's awesome about the Marshalls guy.  I'm sort of looking forward to that sort of thing happening, even though I know it'd be super awkward :P

We are very fortunate to have so much support in our lives.  I think R will tell him mom "just give her smoked salmon at every meal and she'll be happy." ;)

you can carry any amount of liquid, like almondmilk and any kind of labeled protein powder,I would get some single packets that say what is in there,in. You carry on,if you tell them it is a medical necessity.

ppl will post to the thread that that is not allowed in their home airport, but it is posted on the Security website. I carried 6 ounce tubs of yogurt on one flight to MX,as that was my pre op diet. I had noroblem, they had to scan it twice, but I was allowed to bring it.
