I have medical need letters as well as denial on insurance from BCBS so wondered if I can claim the $5000 in Mexico as a medical deducion for taxes this year?

I am not sure about paying for surgery in mexico, but I claimed my surgery in 2013 on my taxes when I filed in 2014. Medical expense is a medical expense if you paid a doctor, clinic or a hospital

My doctor in Mexico specifically told me I could claim the surgery as a medical deduction. At least there is some good that comes from having to be self pay!
