We were given a food phase schedule, so for the 1st 2 weeks after surgery we could do broth, thin protein drinks like Ensure or Isopure probably Premier Protein would work. Did the surgeon provide you some guidelines for what's appropriate as the weeks go by?

First few days at home were very small amounts of clear broth and they wanted me to drink as much water. They were not concerned about the protein shakes until I got more comfortable with drinking water. That took about 4 days, but it took me all day to finish 1 protein drink. Dr. was more concerned about getting liquids the first few day. Two weeks after surgery liquids, then 2 weeks of puree, then 4 weeks of soft foods. But every doctor is different.

My first couple of days home, I was trying different flavors and temperatures to find something that didn't repulse me.  Your goal at this very moment is 64oz of fluids in any way, shape, or form.  This isn't a goal to build up to and it's not going to be easy, so really, REALLY push yourself.
