Bone density scan

my doc ordered a bone density scan for my one year check up. I'm 3 months late with my appointment, which is Thursday. I got the results from my bone density scan however and my lower lumbar score was consistent with osteopenia. I'll talk with the surgeon Thursday but I was wondering if anyone else had this and what they did. I'm concerned because I'm only 37.

Hi Sarah,

This test was key for me. I had never had an issue with bone loss but my surgeon ordered a base line test before surgery.  After my one year I had another test and had lost 17% of my bone density.  We immediately addressed the issue with supplements and shots.  I am not 12 years out and we are holding our own.  Stay on top of this and it can be managed. BTW, I lift weights and this is a good way to maintain your bone health too. Nothing heavy, just light weights is all that is needed.

Keep us posted on what the doctor says

HW:330 - GW:150 - MW:118-125

RW:190 - CW:130

Thanks for the info. I wish I had done a baseline test. My appointment is tomorrow so we'll see what he says.
