Taking the easy way out?

Hey there! So sorry to hear that it's been tough. I agree with everyone else who posted. If you don't feel the need to get re-sleeved, then maybe it isn't the best option. Did your doctor tell you how much more you stretched out your stomach?

In my opinion, getting to the root of your eating thru therapy will have much more long lasting benefits than another surgery. People have bounced around from surgery to surgery without getting to the root cause behind their eating & end up living a sad life.

Eating around a surgery is easy, finding out why you're doing it is hard. Don't take the easy way out.

I wouldn't for 30 lbs. You've lost an incredible amount of weight with the stomach you have now, and judging by your success, I'd say you already have a solid foundation on how to eat healthy. I'd also get a second opinion because it sounds fishy to me, but then I'm a cynical so... hehe.

Congratz on your success :D

I would run from that surgeon as fast as my newly skinny legs could carry me.  That is such ridiculous advice, I can't imagine what sort of numpty would accept it.

Get back to basics - dense protein, get some therapy and shift that 30lbs the old fashioned way!

You've done a great job, don't jeopardize yourself now.

I think it is very smart of you to carefully consider this. Resleeve is a much higher risk, and as you mentioned it is 30 pounds. Last year when I had the gallbladder out and huge hiatel hernia repair, the doc said just before putting me out that he might resleeve due to the stomach being all "stretched" out. He explained the risks then, but said he would make the call once he was in and could see better. Turned out once he put the stomach back where it belongs it resumed the correct shape.

I am also surprised that your surgeon indicated only 65% of your stomach was removed. I might be wrong about this so hopefully others will correct me, but i though 80% or so was the norm. Consequently, if I am correct (and I might not be) and this is the same surgeon I would for sure be seeking a second opinion.

Actually, in ane situation I would be seeking a second opinion. Avoid an extra surgery if you can- more risk than it is worth in my opinion.

So you know your sleeve stretched some...they do that and it's normal.  You know enough that it means that you need to be mindful of your eating and it's not doing all of the work for you.  The re-sleeve is an option, but it is totally up to you.  If you feel confident in yourself right now, take comfort that it's an option down the road.  It doesn't have to happen right away, though.
