7 Years, What a Ride!

Hey fellow kids!

I just looked up and realized 2 years have flown by since I last posted anything. Crazy.

In the meantime... I've kept my weight very steady, same weight as 2 years ago so that's good! Looks like a few of the peeps I hung with while I was getting started are still hanging out here... "HI to all of you!"

This summer my cycling team and I ramped it up a notch and raced in the "Race Across America, " a three-thousand mile bike race from Oceanside, CA to Annapolis, MD. Our 8-person team completed the distance in 6 days, 10 hours and 59 minutes, earning a respectable fourth-place finish. Not bad for a bunch an average age of 55!

I also retired from my job, after selling my company I worked for the acquirer for nearly three years. We relocated to the Palm Springs, CA area, and love it. We've been popping over to Europe once in a while to beat the heat of the desert.

Still so so so glad I did this.

Tom

Amazing! Congratulations on your ride and finish! I'm 12 months sleeve post-op and starting riding my hybrid (again) and May and bought a 2nd hand road bike in June. Although I'm just starting out, I can see why so many folks love cycling. Thanks for your story, photos and inspiration!

Hey Tom! Glad to hear all is going well for you and you are still cycling. For some reason I popped on here today (haven't been on this forum in ages!). Perhaps, your post is why.... LOL! Best to you! Kairk

I love seeing all of your cycling stuff! There have been more than a few times when I've been maybe 10 or 15 miles into a ride when I just feel like I want to quit, but then I think of your RAAM stuff and keep pushing myself ;)

Keep pedaling!

I'm back in the gym now too - retirement just opened up so much more time for healthy activity.

I made a very tiny investment in a company that produces an app called 'FitBod.' Uses AI to program your workouts, has videos to show you how each movement is done, and allows you to customize for what equipment your home or gym has and the exercises all adapt to that. Also pulls in my cycling data from Strava so that I don't over work the legs.
