How exciting! A few last-minute bits of advice...

  • If you weigh yourself after surgery, you will find you have gained weight! This is because they pump you full of fluids. This excess weight will go away in 5-10 days, and then you'll get to watch the pounds melt away.
  • Many people go through a period of regretting their decision. This is absolutely normal, and doesn't mean you've made a mistake in having surgery. The feeling will pass.
  • Constipation can become a very annoying problem very quickly. Drink lots of fluid (aim for 2 litres) and take any stool softeners they give you.
  • After surgery, get up and walk as soon as you can. This will reduce the risk of blood clots, and help with gas pain.

Good luck with your surgery tomorrow. I agree with Wombat, walking after surgery will help alleviate gas pains following surgery. It was a fast paced and easy recovery period for me, hope it is for you too!

Best of luck. Surely, you are so excited. Keep you eye on the prize.

I won't be but maybe a month behind you, probably by beginning of December. I have my preparation list ready for pre and post surgery, a crazy planner. Excited my next appointment to wrap up and send in all to insurance.
