Most everyone, regardless of surgery type, now posts in the RNY forum (given how similar the diets actually are in practice). You should check over there.

I used to love these posts. Now I have no idea what to eat. 1 year of fertility treatment, 9 months pregnant, 9 months taking care of beautiful twins and I've completely lost it.
Here is a rough plan.
B - fit frappe
B2 - 2 eggs maybe a slice of bacon
L - Panera salad
S - ?? Will be traveling might try to pick up a yogurt and string cheese at a gas station
D - meat and veg - out of town so not sure what
Exercise - 30 mins on treadmill.
What is your plan?
You have received great suggestions. I would also suggest contacting the surgeon's office to see what bloodwork they will do before the surgery. Ask if they have any recommendations for testing before your trip.

I was "healthy" before my RNY and just had bloods and an ECG done.
Maybe request B12, B1, vit D, ferritin, so you have baselines to compare with post surgery levels for possible supplementation.

Surgeons often ask for a sleep study (to check for sleep apnea), as well as an echocardiogram to make sure your heart is strong enough to handle the anesthesia. Your GP may be able to order these for you.
Good luck!

I am planning on having gastric sleeve surgery with Dr. Alvarez at Endobariatric. Based on my medical history they do not require any testing with my PCP before heading down for surgery.
They will of course do pre-op tests the day before surgery to make sure I am clear, but to ease my mind I would like to have testing done here in the US before traveling all the way there in case my test results do not come back clear.
I was planning on seeing my doctor for a physical with bloodwork, but are there any other specific tests I should ask for? Thanks in advance!
The worst part of the whole process for me was the time leading up to the surgery. I came close to cancelling right up until the took me to the operating room. Almost everyone of us did.

a lot of us had the exact same feelings, so you're not alone! In retrospect, I would do it again in a heartbeat!
Hello everyone...
I feel like surgery is quickly approaching and I'm feeling a bit nervous. I have one last step before I can get the surgery scheduled- endoscopy on 10/2 Once that is done, I'm free and clear to get a surgery date and Im getting cold feet. Will I be ok afterwards? Im also nervous about going under anaesthesia. I know its only supposed to be about an hour but wow- this is a big step
Help !

When I have to pee, I need to go now. How long will this last? Right after surgery, I always kept track of where the nearest bathroom was because my bladder suddenly had just two settings: fine, or OMGneedtopeenowwillimakeittothetoiletintime.
I can relate to that. I discovered that my bladder was sensitive to something in diet drinks. Diet Pepsi, or Pepsi Max, or Diet Coke. When I drink this thing - more than one small serving once a week - I have urgency to go. My muscles to control the bladder get irritated and just let go. Very embarrassing and irritating.
I normally don't drink diet soda but one time we had family get-together and we got some soft drinks, some diet soft drinks. We had plenty of leftovers, and I knew they don't last, so I started drinking that daily: 2-4 of those per day. I liked it enough to keep buying some and drinking. They were my new way to increase my liquids.
When I experienced bladder incontinence, I was sure I had UTI. I got tested, but it came out negative. I tried different things, but nothing worked. Until one day I decided that I will no longer drink diet sodas. After 2 days diet soda free, I no longer had urges "to go". Within 5 days, everything was working great. Initially I did not think anything about soft drinks. But when a month later I had a couple of large diet soda, and started experiencing the urge to pee, something "clicked". Whatever is in diet soda - caused my bladders to get sensitive. I may have one small serving of diet soda once in a while. Less and less as time goes, because I don't like feeling like my bladder is irritated.
For you - it may not be soda, but some other drink or food. Unfortunately only elimination diet can help you with that.
