Topic: Good foods to get back on the wagon 11.5 years out?

So I'm 11 and a half years out. Over all I feel I have been one of the lucky ones. 320 down to a lowest weight of 127. I was a size 4 for years. I even had a baby and was back in those size 4's a few weeks later. After about year 6 the creeping started. It wasn't to bad and I held for a few more years at a size 8. Given how thin I was at a 4 I was good with it. Vitamin levels have always looked good. A touch of reactive hypoglycemia but nothing major really. Last 2 years the creep got worse. I'm not at 175 :( I want back to 140 to 145. I went on a cruise 2 weeks ago and broke every rule in the book and now feel like crap. Can't tell if I'm sick or if I totally jacked up my system. I drank a ton, ate foods I never would and lots of them. I was very naughty. So time to get back on the wagon. I just am not sure how to start. I have been away for far to long and am looking for how people get back in control. I know I'm still in a place where I can get back in control but I also realize I need to do it NOW. That I'm flirting with a line here. So I'd love any tips. What do you eat? What do you snack on to satisfy the hunger feeling? I loaded a fitness tracker on my phone. Set my calories to 1500 and am ready to do this. Thanks

Does anyone know if taking the recommended dose of Benifiber impacts our absorption of vitamins and iron supplements?

Researching on the Internet was of no help!

Thanks!

Topic: Just trying to help ?

Hello, my name is Illiana

I am officially two years out from surgery!  I got my surgery February 11, 2014 when I was just 19 years old!  At my highest weight I was 285 pounds! I know 19 seems young,  it was the best decision ever made!  I chose to write on this forum because I know when I was Preop I looked on this website!  This Journey is not going to be easy. Weight-loss surgery was such a great tool for me to change my life around for the better!  It made me realize so many things about myself, opened up my eyes about eating healthier foods.because If You're thinking about getting weight-loss surgery,  my advice is if you really want to make a  lifestyle change go for it! Why wait?  My weight-loss surgery of choice was the vertical sleeve.  I know I am one of the lucky ones, I've never had one complication!  I have a little more heartburn than usual but nothing I can't handle! Before my surgery, my asthma was insane, I was pre-diabetic.  All of this changed once I committed myself to a healthy lifestyle and I feel like the sleeve just gave me that push to change!  I am currently at 152 pounds and never felt better!  With My experience I encourage anyone to get weight-loss surgery and change your life! Start now, start today!

Topic: RE: What to tell my boss and colleagues that I'm doing

No need to tell your boss or coworkers anything other than you have a personal matter that you have to contend to.  Later down the road you can tell them if you decide to do so.  I personally am glad I did tell my coworkers.  They were/are very supportive, give me encouragement when I need it and don't pressure me to snack when there are treats in the office.  Good luck!

Topic: Can someone help me understand my B12 results?

hello

i received my complete lab results back.

Vitamins A, E, and K were in normal range.

As was B12..normal range indicted is 211-911. Mine is 514.

What is high is the RBC Folate(red blood count folate). Normal range 280.0- 791.0. My reading was 850.1.

I was told to increase B12 1000ml shot from one time per month to 2 times per month.

What I am confused about is if I am absorbing the B12 or not?

My other question is, if I am absorbing the fat vitamins what would cause me not to absorb the B 12 appropriately? Could this be indicative of intestinal bacterial over growth?

im so confused by this...

and yes I am contacting my doctor..

thanks for your response

Topic: RE: 10 years already

I'm in the same boat, almost 12 years out and struggling with those darn 20 pounds. Sugar and fatty foods still bother me, eating too fast too, but I can put away more than I'd like.

As of 1/1 (like a lot of people lol) I started to track on My Fitness Pal, I'm not perfect but it keeps me accountable and I portion my food and swapped to healthy foods. I've used Phentermine, which works but the side effects worry me. I also watch Leslie Sansone Walk at Home vids, nice workouts, but I don't think they would be good for you to do.

Good luck!

Topic: RE: Anyone 9 years out???

Hi I will be 10 years out next month. I have been struggling the last few years with weight gain. I am up 20 -25 pounds. I joined weight wartchers the first of the year and have lost 7 pounds and am happy with that but its hard. I can eat as much now as before my surgery. Sweets make me sick so I stay away from them as much as possible. I also went through a period of excess drinking wine. Ive cut way back on that , but its hard. Seems like I traded one vice for another. Hope you get back on track, but also know your not alone in your struggles, theirs alot of us out here. Deb

Topic: 10 years already

Next month it will be 10 years since my RNY. Ive been through alot of ups and downs, meaning on the scale. I lost 110 pounds my first year, which I am very grateful for. In the last 5 years I have put on and taken off the same 20 pounds each year.  As of right now it is back on. I had a hip replacement last year, I did really good and am back to doing water arobics 4 -5 times a week. I have started and quit weigh****chers 4 times in the last 5 years and am currently a member once again. Needless to say its been a struggle to keep the weight off. I can eat just about everything and as much as before surgery which is not good, the only thing that still makes me sick are sweets. Any suggestions on getting and staying on track 10 years out? Thanks Debra
