YIKES! Surgery moved up!

I got a phone call today, and my doctor changed my surgery date from Tuesday, April 1st to Monday, March 31st.  Soooo, the good thing is it is a day sooner; the bad thing is that it is at a different hospital (not the cushy, private one) and it is at 3:30 in the afternoon.   I'm not thrilled, but I know everything happens for a reason.  I have to do liquids the day before and no food or water after midnight, so I'm going to be VERY thirsty by the time they do surgery on Monday afternoon.  That part sucks.  I'm going to make sure I'm VERY hydrated the few days before so it won't feel as bad (I hope).  Anyone else have afternoon surgery?  How was it?

Wow! Do you mean the 31st though or on Sunday? I don't know if I would want an afternoon surgery....but I don't really know anything about it.

Either way you are going to be on the loser's bench and maybe someone with some experience will comment on the pm part.

Congrats!

I had an afternoon surgery. It went fine I just didn't get in as soon as they had said but that was no biggie. You don't really get thirsty that day they put you on ivs as soon as you are there. You will make out just fine. Hugs and good luck with your surgery.

I'm just glad it's still in the works for you...only 10 days...is the excited/nervous/worry/happy/sad and whatever other feeling setting in yet? LOL, that's normal!! Take care, Selena

Yes!  All of that and more!  My husband and I are trying to get our schedules worked out right now.  Things are a little crazy with school and baseball and, and, and...but I can't wait!

Best wishes going out to you :)  I had a noon time surgery and I remember when they hooked up the iV in pre-op the nurse said "here comes breakfast and lunch"....I was a tad bit hungry but honestly I thihk your nerves are going so much that you aren't really focused on hunger or thirst. Sheila

I'm really only worried about thirst.  I HATE to be thirsty, and I have a water bottle in hand 24/7.  I keep one by my bed to sip on when I wake up at night.  I'm a water lush!  LOL!
